Privacy Policy
Effective August 27, 2026
Muzieka helps musicians set goals, log practice, and encourage one another. This policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it when you use the Muzieka website or iPhone app.
Information we collect
- Account and profile information: username, email address, name, profile photo, instrument, biography, and account preferences.
- Practice and goal content: goals, practice duration, notes, feelings, dates, uploaded images and videos, and optional audio recordings.
- Social content: public or shared activity, comments, messages, likes, follows, reports, blocks, challenge participation, and leaderboard progress.
- Technical information: authentication tokens, basic request and device information, diagnostics, and security logs needed to operate and protect the service.
- Connected Google Calendar information: if a teacher chooses to connect Google Calendar, encrypted authorization credentials, free/busy time ranges from calendars the teacher can access, and the Muzieka lesson details needed to create and maintain lesson events on a calendar the teacher owns.
- Billing information: purchase history, membership status, and payment identifiers. Payments are processed by Apple or Stripe; Muzieka does not store full payment-card details. Partners who receive commissions provide payout and identity information directly to Stripe Connect.
How we use information
We use this information to provide and personalize Muzieka, calculate progress and streaks, display content according to your privacy choices, operate challenges and social features, process subscriptions, provide support, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
Google Calendar connection
Teachers may optionally connect Google Calendar to prevent students from requesting lessons during times that are already busy. Muzieka requests limited Google Calendar permissions to read availability and, when lesson sync is enabled, to create and maintain Muzieka lesson events on a calendar the teacher owns. We use returned busy start and end times solely to identify scheduling conflicts and show bookable lesson times.
The availability connection does not provide Google Calendar event titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, or other event content. For lesson sync, Muzieka sends the lesson time, student display name, and a Muzieka lesson identifier to Google, and creates, updates, or deletes only the Google events associated with those Muzieka lessons. Free/busy results may be cached briefly to provide the scheduling feature. Muzieka does not sell Google Calendar information, use it for advertising, or share it except with service providers acting on our behalf as necessary to operate and secure the connection.
Muzieka stores the Google authorization credentials in encrypted form while the calendar remains connected. Selecting Disconnect in Lesson Availability deletes the stored Google Calendar connection from Muzieka. A teacher may also revoke the authorization separately through their Google Account permissions. Google Calendar information is handled in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Visibility and sharing
Practice logs follow the visibility you choose: private, shared with a teacher or goal creator, or public. Goals, profile information, challenge progress, and social interactions may be visible to other Muzieka members as indicated in the product. Please do not upload information you do not want shared at the selected visibility level.
We share information only with service providers that help us run Muzieka, such as hosting, storage, email, analytics or diagnostics, customer support, and payment providers; when required by law; or to protect users and the service. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information and user content while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual goals and practice logs where those controls are available. You can permanently delete your account from Account & Privacy in the Muzieka iPhone app. Account deletion removes the account and content owned only by that account from active systems. A Song shared with an active co-writer or editor remains available to its collaborators and ownership transfers to one of them. Deletion remains subject to limited retention required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, transaction records, and disaster-recovery backups. Backup copies expire through our normal retention cycle.
You may also use the contact form to request access, correction, or deletion. We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request.
Children under 13
A child under 13 may use Muzieka only through a protected account created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. After the child hands over the device, the adult reviews the protections, provides a parent email address, and expressly attests that they are the parent or legal guardian and consent to the account setup before entering the child's information. We record the consent time, method, and policy version. This signup form does not independently identity-check the adult. The parent email receives safety and recovery notices; the protected account signs in with a separate child username and account password.
For a protected account, we collect the child's first and last name, date of birth, goals, practice activity, notes, and technical information needed to operate and secure the service. Photos, video, and audio are collected only when intentionally uploaded. We use this information to provide the practice, goal, learning, safety, support, and security features described in this policy. We do not condition participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary for those features.
Protected profiles are hidden from discovery and public or global leaderboards. Public comments, public challenges, and unsolicited messages are blocked. A parent PIN is required to approve each follow or teacher connection. After that approval and acceptance of the relationship, the child may appear by first name and last initial in that teacher's private classroom leaderboard and may exchange messages with that teacher. Muzieka does not currently identity-check teachers. Service providers that host, store, secure, or deliver Muzieka may process limited information only to provide those services.
A parent may review the child's personal information, revoke consent, prevent further collection or use, or request deletion through account controls or our contact form. Revoking consent may require us to close the protected account. We retain children's information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the account or satisfy the limited legal and security needs described above.
Security
We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Muzieka changes. We will post the current version here and update the effective date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through our contact form.
